Should we be concerned about eating
the forbidden fruit?

Is it possible that there are people in the church and in the world eating the fruit, which brought about our separation from God, and caused our darkness and death? Could it be that the same problem Eve had in recognizing the forbidden tree and its fruit, we are having today?

It has been suggested by some that the fruit our first parents ate in the Garden of Eden was an apple. Yet, we find today people everywhere buying and eating apples as a means of providing nourishment and health. What is the fruit that our first parents ate? Was it an apple? These questions will be answered as we progress through our study on recognizing the forbidden tree and its fruit.

In order for us to see clearly the type of tree and its fruit, we must by faith look, perceive with our minds through the study of The Word, to identify what it was that Adam and Eve ate in the beginning of man's existence. For it is by faith that we receive through the study of The Word, the things that no eyes have seen, or no ears have heard. Only as we discern by faith the things that are revealed by The Word of GOD, will we begin to understand and comprehend why it is important to recognize the forbidden tree and its fruit.

If we have not yet understood the means by which we see and discern The Spiritual things of God through the study of HIS Word, then it is more than likely that we will find this study difficult to understand, to see and comprehend with our minds the things that are clearly revealed by GOD through HIS Word. For HE said by HIS Word, "The natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned" (1 Corinthians 2:14). A perfect example of this problem of spiritual discernment, is revealed to us by Jesus as He taught His disciples the fundamentals of seeing spiritually by His Words. "And he said unto them, He that hath ears to hear, let him hear. And when he was alone, they that were about him with the twelve asked of him the parable. And he said unto them, Unto you it is given to know the mystery of the kingdom of God: but unto them that are without, all [these] things are done in parables: That seeing they may see, and not perceive; and hearing they may hear, and not understand; lest at any time they should be converted, and [their] sins should be forgiven them. And he said unto them, Know ye not this parable? and how then will ye know all parables?" (Mark 4:11-13) Notice that although we have ears to hear, we don't all hear what is being said. And although we have eyes to see, we don't all see what is being revealed that we might be converted and our sins should be forgiven.

It is clear from The Word that GOD could give to men the answers to the questions on our hearts, and although HE has revealed and have presented The Truth in HIS Word, those who take no time to receive and study HIS Word, they will not receive The Things of The Spirit of GOD. For the answers could be given to them that they might understand The Things of GOD, but because they have not been prepared to receive the answers, they will not know from HIS Word when the answers has been given. They will therefore see The things of GOD, or That Which is given of GOD, as being foolishness, and reject the value of what is given by The Word to comprehend The Truth.

Some might think that it is not that important for us to study The Scriptures daily, to know The Truth revealed by GOD in HIS Word, but Paul would disagree to this thought. For he said, "...seeing we have this ministry, as we have received mercy, we faint not; But have renounced the hidden things of dishonesty, not walking in craftiness, nor handling the word of God deceitfully; but by manifestation of the truth commending ourselves to every man's conscience in the sight of God. But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost: In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them" (2 Corinthians 4:1-4). Notice that while it is the desire of Christ, to manifest, or to reveal and to make known The Truth to the hearts and minds of every man, to be converted that our sins might be forgiven us, it is the objective of the enemy--the god of this world, to blind the conscience of every man, to keep the minds of men from knowing The Truth that they might be lost. From these two opposing views, we can see, or discern that it is important that we know the forbidden fruit that we might not eat of it and be lost.

If I were to present a question on these two opposing views, to make the understanding of this Truth more personal, the question would be this; Is it important for the cells in our bodies to be nourished, to be healthy that we might not be susceptible to deadly viruses that can harm the whole body? Yet, the enemy has blinded the minds of men and women that they, by their own doing might receive into their bodies that, which will weaken the body, to be susceptible to more than deadly viruses that can harm and destroy their bodies.

If we truly seek to understand and comprehend The Things of GOD through our eyes of faith in the study of HIS Word, then click on this link to the study of faith. If however you comprehend the means by which The Spiritual Things of GOD are revealed through the physical, then proceed below to the study of The Word, to receive from GOD what He has revealed in HIS Word on the forbidden fruit, which many are eating today like a virus, which cause them not to find peace in this world with both GOD and man.

After placing the world into the hands of man, The Lord said, "Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat. And to every beast of the earth, and to every fowl of the air, and to every thing that creepeth upon the earth, wherein there is life, I have given every green herb for meat: and it was so. And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. And the evening and the morning were the sixth day" (Genesis 1:29-31).

In looking carefully at this passage of Scripture, it is clear that the Lord gave to man the fruits from basically two groups of trees, which covered every herb bearing seed, and every tree, in which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed. The question that should come to mind, to bear fruit unto life, is our ability to discern in our minds the difference between each group. Notice carefully a little word in the instructions to man, which would wipe away a whole list of things that man have included in their diet, which have caused their bodies to become weaken and susceptible to all kinds of diseases. That little word is "to". GOD did not say, "of" every beast of the earth, and "of" every fowl of the air, and "of" every thing that creepeth upon the earth, HE has given to man for meat. No, this instructions to man would be incorrect. HE said by HIS Word, "...to every beast of the earth, and to every fowl of the air, and to every thing that creepeth upon the earth, wherein there is life, I have given every green herb for meat: and it was so". GOD has given to the animals every green herb for meat. If the instructions given to the animals were to be misunderstood, would we want the animals of the earth to see man, as an abundance of food to eat? I don't think we would like to be on our guard every moment of the day and night from animals of the land, sea and air that saw man as food. If the instructions given to the animals are important for there health, then the instruction given to man is also important for our health.

every herb bearing seed, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed.
The fruits from these trees were given as the source
of meat, or food to both man and animals.

The Word testified to us that, "...the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul. And the LORD God planted a garden eastward in Eden; and there he put the man whom he had formed. And out of the ground made the LORD God to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food; the tree of life also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of knowledge of good and evil" (Genesis 2:7-9). We know from the testimony of John, who spoke of Christ--The Word of GOD that "All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. In him was life; and the life was the light of men" (John 1:3, 4). It was by GOD--The Father through HIS Word--HIS Son, Who formed man of the dust of the ground and breathed into man His Spirit of Light and Life, and man became a living soul. And from the ground, He cause to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food.

In testifying again on how the LORD brought everything into existence, the Word revealed to us that the LORD cause to grow out of the ground...

every tree that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food; the tree of life also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of knowledge of good and evil.

It would appear that every tree in the garden of Eden was good for food, but this is not the case.   For the Word testified that, "...the LORD God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it. And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die" (Genesis 2:15-17).

In reviewing the trees that bear fruit for food, which the LORD provided to Adam and Eve in the garden of Eden, we find...

  • Every herb bearing seed
  • Every tree in which is the fruit
    of a tree yielding seed.
  • Every tree that is pleasant to
the sight and good for food.
  • Also The Tree of Life
All

The LORD gave Adam and Eve the choice of eating from every herb bearing seed, and every tree in which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed. In addition to these choices, the LORD told them that they may eat from every tree that is pleasant to the sight and good for food. With all the choices Adam and Eve had before them, the LORD included also the choice of eating from one of the two trees also in the midst of the garden. This tree is the tree of life, Which produces the fruit of life in the things that have life. After receiving so many choices, the LORD said to them that they may freely eat of all these trees.

The only tree that Adam and Eve were forbidden to eat of its fruit, was the tree of knowledge of good and evil. For in the day that man should eat the fruit of this tree, man will surely die. Notice that among the trees that were given to man to eat of its fruit, there was given also every tree that is pleasant to the sight and good for food. Although there was a tree that man was forbidden to eat of its fruit, that tree could have been among the trees that were pleasant to the sight, but not good for food.

If someone were to ask the question, "Why did God forbid Adam and Eve from eating the fruit of this one tree? HE would say by HIS Word, "For I have no pleasure in the death of him that dieth, saith the Lord GOD..." (Ezekiel 18:32).

If you were to view all the fruits grown on earth in one place, or if someone offered to you, to eat one of the fruits shown here in the picture below, would you know the forbidden fruit when you see it? Could you with discernment identify the forbidden tree and its fruit from the good fruits in the picture below? Would you know if the fruit of this tree is even shown here, or not shown here in the picture below?

Which one of these fruits would you identify as being the forbidden fruit? Or could the forbidden fruit even be among these fruits as shown here? If we are not able to identify the forbidden fruit, how then would we comply with The Will of The LORD to not eat of it? To accomplish this task, we must rely on The Word of God to reveal to us the identity of this tree and its fruit.   To begin this study, click on the phrase to "Identify the tree and its fruit by faith."
