Is it possible that there are people in the church and in the world eating the fruit, which brought about our separation from God and caused our darkness and death? Could it be that the same problem Eve had in recognizing the forbidden tree and its fruit we are having today?
It has been suggested by some that the fruit our first parents ate in the Garden of Eden was an apple. Yet, we find today people everywhere buying and eating apples as a means of providing nourishment and health. What is the fruit that our first parents ate? Was it an apple? These questions will be answered as we progress through our study on recognizing the forbidden tree and its fruit.
In order for us to see clearly the type of tree and its fruit, we must by faith look through the study of The Word at what Adam and Eve ate in the beginning of man's existence. For it is by faith that we receive through The Word the things that no eyes have seen, or no ears have heard. Only as we discern by faith the things that are revealed by The Word, will we begin to understand and comprehend why it is important to recognize the forbidden tree and its fruit.
If you have not yet understood the means by which we see The Spiritual things of God through the study of HIS Word, then it is more than likely that you will find this study difficult to understand, to see with your mind the things that are clearly revealed by GOD through HIS Word. For HE said by HIS Word, "The natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned" (1 Corinthians 2:14).
It is clear from The Word of GOD, that HE could give to men the answers to the questions on our hearts, and although HE has revealed and have presented The Truth in HIS Word, those who take no time to study HIS Word, they will not receive The Things of The Spirit of GOD. For the answers could be given to them that they might understand The Things of GOD, but because they have not been prepared to receive the answers, they will not know from HIS Word when the answers have been given. They will therefore see The things of GOD, or That Which is given of GOD, as being foolishness, and reject the value of what is given to comprehend The Truth.
If you truly seek to understand and comprehend The Things of GOD through your eyes of faith in the study of HIS Word, then click on this link to the study of faith. If however you comprehend the means by which The Things of The Spirit of GOD are revealed, then proceed below to the study of The Word, to receive from GOD what He has revealed, as being the forbidden fruit, which many are still eating today.

After placing the world in the hands of man, The Lord said, "Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat.
"And to every beast of the earth, and to every fowl of the air, and to every thing that creepeth upon the earth, wherein there is life, I have given every green herb for meat: and it was so. And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. And the evening and the morning were the sixth day" (Genesis 1:29-31).
In looking carefully at this passage of Scripture, it is clear that the Lord gave to man the fruits from basically two groups of trees, which covered

The fruits from these trees were given as the source
of meat to both man and animals.

The Word testified to us that, "...the LORD God formed man of
the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul. And the LORD God planted a garden eastward in Eden; and there he put the man whom he had formed. And out of the ground made the LORD God to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food; the tree of life also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of knowledge of good and evil" (Genesis 2:7-9).
In testifying again on how the LORD brought everything into existence, the Word revealed to us that the LORD cause to grow out of the ground

It would appear that every tree in the garden of Eden was good for food, but this is not the case. For the Word testified that, "...the LORD God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it. And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die" (Genesis 2:15-17).
In reviewing the trees that bear fruit for food, which the LORD provided to Adam and Eve in the garden of Eden, we find

The LORD gave Adam and Eve the choice of eating from every herb bearing seed, and every tree in which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed. In addition to these choices, the LORD told them that they may eat from every tree that is pleasant to the sight and good for food. With all the choice's Adam and Eve had before them, the LORD included also the choice of eating from one of the two trees in the midst of the garden. This tree was the tree of life. After receiving so many choices, the LORD said to them that they may freely eat of all these trees.
The only tree that Adam and Eve were forbidden to eat of its fruit was the tree of knowledge of good and evil. For in the day that they should eat the fruit of this tree, they will surely die. Notice that among the trees that were given to man to eat of its fruit, there was given also every tree that is pleasant to the sight and good for food. Although there was a tree that man was forbidden to eat of its fruit, that tree could have been among the trees that were pleasant to the sight, but not good for food.
If someone were to ask the question, "Why did God forbid Adam and Eve from eating the fruit of this one tree? HE would say by HIS Word, "For I have no pleasure in the death of him that dieth, saith the Lord GOD..." (Ezekiel 18:32).
If you were to view all the fruits grown on earth in one place, or if someone offers to you one of the fruits shown here to eat, would you know the forbidden fruit when you see it? Could you identify the tree and its fruit?
|
|
Which one of these fruits would you identify as being the forbidden fruit? Or is the forbidden fruit even among these fruits as shown here? If we are not able to identify the forbidden fruit, how then would we comply with the will of the LORD to not eat of it?
To accomplish this task, we must rely on the Word of God to reveal to us the identity of this tree and its fruit. To begin this study, click on the phrase to "Identify the tree and its fruit by faith."
